This presentation will focus on pieces by Black Composers from a pedagogical perspective, by categorizing each piece by level and viewing the composers in historical and stylistic context. The program, about 45 min long, will explore 10 composers and about 32 pieces. We will explore music by Florence Price, William Grant Still, Ulysses Kay, Hale Smith, Ignatius Sancho, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Julia Perry, Robert Nathaniel Dett, and Thomas Wiggins.

Through his website PianoLIT, iOS app, and Youtube channel, Arthur has amassed a wealth of information about this topic and will share his knowledge with us during the Zoom meeting.
