Virtuoso Pianist Competition is our most prestigious event, showcasing students who demonstrate a high level of artistry.
This competition is open to students of all HMTA members and offers an opportunity for young musicians in grades 3 through 12 to perform and compete within their age groups.
Competition Guidelines:
- Group 1 (Grades 3–4): 5 minutes
- Group 2 (Grades 5–6): 7 minutes
- Group 3 (Grades 7–8): 10 minutes
- Group 4 (Grades 9–10): 12 minutes
- Group 5 (Grades 11–12): 15 minutes
Participants in all age groups are required to perform two contrasting pieces from different musical periods within the allotted time.
Additional Information:
- Students are expected to dress in appropriate performance attire. Please avoid sneakers, sweatpants, t-shirts, or jeans.
- Performers must bring copies of their scores for the judges with measures numbered.
- The competition is open to the public, and a detailed schedule will be sent to teachers approximately two weeks prior to the event.
- When registering, please include only significant scheduling conflicts. We will do our best to accommodate specific time requests, but cannot guarantee availability.
- The schedule will be finalized one week before the event. After that time, changes will not be possible. Students who are unable to attend during their assigned time will forfeit participation.
- Please note that registration fees are non-refundable.
- Students who are participating in Virtuoso Competition are not eligible to participate in Rising Competition.
